First sanctioned by the state legislature in 2012, Alabama’s outdoor drinking entertainment districts are considered by both Democratic and Republican officials to be one of the most successful bipartisan initiatives of the past decade. Mountain Brook has several districts of its own and Birmingham was allowed to increase its number from five to as many as 15 last year. (AL.com)
