National Hot Chocolate Day is January 31st, and what better way to celebrate the first month of the new year than with a steaming mug of hot chocolate?
Last year we spilled the details on all the wacky cocoa concoctions you can find in Delaware, and this year we’re going back to basics with plenty of classic hot chocolate offerings. But don’t worry, there are still a few fun surprises here.
Whether you’d rather hold the whip or pour it into marshmallows, one of these Delaware spots mixes up a steaming (or ice cold!) mug of hot chocolate that’s sure to crack your cocoa code.
Turning point, Christiana
Located in the Christiana Fashion Center, Turning Point has a few Heavenly Hot Chocolate options on its menu that add a twist to this classic winter beverage.
The Cookie Explosion flavor is topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle before being topped with chocolate chips and Oreo cookie bits.
S’mores hot chocolate is made with toasted marshmallow syrup, whipped cream, and shredded graham crackers. Peppermint adds a punch of peppermint syrup, whipped cream, and crushed peppermint. They also serve a traditional hot chocolate with a simple whipped cream.
When drinking your hot chocolate isn’t enough, Turning Point makes peppermint hot chocolate cakes. The dish consists of hot cocoa cakes with crushed peppermint, marshmallows and a drizzle of mint and chocolate cream.
