Where to get rid of your Christmas tree in Texas

Christmas has come and gone and now it’s time to get rid of your holly jolly tree.

Before getting rid of your tree, make sure all lights, tinsel, ornaments, and any other materials that are not part of the original tree, including tree stands, are removed. When you get rid of your tree, it will likely be chopped up and made into mulch.

As a safety warning, please never burn your Christmas tree. This is how creosote builds up in your chimney; Not to mention that it could cause a fire.

Here’s what you should do to get rid of your Christmas tree:

If you are a City of Austin curbside customer, you may leave your Christmas tree curbside on your normal pickup day for recycling. Trees over 6 feet should be cut in half.
