Azucena Agbayani Ha’o, 81, of Hilo, died on January 11, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and a member of the Wainaku congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation on February 5th from 1pm to 3pm in the Dodo Chapel of the Dead; Funeral service at 3 p.m. Casual clothing; no flowers. She is survived by sons Charles (Alma) Ha’o III and Chad (Stephanie) Ha’o of Hilo; daughter, Gina Ha’o of Hilo; brother, Dionicio (Lillian) Agbayani Jr. of Reno, Nev.; sister, Carlina Castro of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tyrone Young
Tyrone Young, 83, of Kailua-Kona, died on November 23, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hamakua on April 4, 1939, he was a musical entertainer, self-employed stonemason, caterer, and member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. No services are planned. He is survived by daughters, Jessica (Graham) Williamson and Jennifer Finau, all from Kailua-Kona; brothers, Henry Young of Honolulu and Raymond (Shirley Bentley) Young of Kailua-Kona; 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Naomi Aiu
Naomi K. “Darling” Kawamoto Aiu, 83, of Honalo, died on January 8, 2023 at her home. Born on September 29, 1939 in Keauhou Bay, she was a homemaker, coffee farmer, deacon, and member of the Helani Congregational Church, the Queen Kaahumanu Society, and Ka Ulu Lauhala O Kona. The visitation will be on February 18 at 9:00 am at the Helani Congregational Church at 78-6551 Mamalahoa Hwy., Holualoa. The funeral service begins at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Family requests casual wear and flowers are welcome. She is survived by husband Harry Aiu of Honalo; Daughters, Pua (Chris) Mantz of Keaau, Roxanne (Scott) Miller of Alaska, and Anna Mapu (Francis) Quitazol of Kula, Maui; Hanai sons, Edward (Emily) Kawamoto of Kamuela, Darin (Mildred) Aiu of Kailua-Kona; brother, John Kawamoto of Keauhou Mauka; seven grandchildren. Ronald Russell Carvalho, 72, of Ocean View, died on January 4, 2023 at his family home. Born in Honolulu on December 30, 1950, he was the owner and operator of Ilima’s Taxi and Tours. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Carvalho of Ocean View; Daughters, Starlani (Tony Furuta) Manila from Ocean View, Regina Leorna from Kailua-Kona, Trixy Carvalho from Las Vegas, Helen Carvalho from Arkansas; sons, Harris (Sarah) Carvalho of Ocean View and Wilsam (Tracy) Keanaaina of Kahuku; brothers, Dennis Balgas from Hilo and Michael Mercado from Ocean View; sisters Annabelle (Candace Tassill) Sanchez from Kailua-Kona and Debra Mercado from Honolulu; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pearl M. Punahele, 80, of Mountain View, died January 14, 2023. Born November 29, 1942 in Hawaii, she retired from child protective service in the state of Hawaii (Maui County) and was a member of Our Lord Jesus Christ’s Resurrection.
