The Bruins have hosted Glamor on campus three times, beginning with his camping with the team in April 2022.
Sheen becomes the second class of 2024 prospects to commit to UCLA, joining four-star Mater Dei (CA) defender Khristian Dunbar-Hawkins. Since Glanz is unrated on the 247Sports Composite, his involvement doesn’t move the Bruins’ needle in the rankings as their class still sits 33rd in the country and 6th in the Pac-12.
The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Shine is rated a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports has ranked Luster as the No. 68 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 93 player in California.
Among the offensive tackles in California, Glanz ranks 7th.
UCLA also has bids for the state’s top three tackles — Mater Dei (CA) four-star Brandon Baker, Modesto Christian (CA) four-star Manasse Itete and Huntington Beach (CA) four-star Justin Tauanuu.
The Bruins haven’t had a particularly high hit rate at offensive linemen recruits in recent seasons and have only made two commits — three-star players Sam Yoon and Tavake Tuikolovatu — in the last two cycles. Both of those prospects were high school-level tackles, but both could end up as guards.
Shine — given his size and extensive left tackle experience — is more of a prototypical tackle that UCLA hopes can eventually add to the rotation, though he does show solid versatility. She also has tight end and defensive line experience, and plays for the Eastlake boys’ basketball team during the winter.
Old Dominion transfer Khadere Kounta and rising redshirt student Garrett DiGiorgio are likely to hold starting tackle spots this season, but the depth behind them is shallow. After all, both Sean Rhyan and Alec Anderson both went to the 2022 NFL Draft, then Rutgers declared Raiqwon O’Neal to transfer Raiqwon O’Neal to the 2023 NFL Draft in early January.
With so many moving parts and no longer tons of bodies in positional space, offensive line coach Tim Drevno has been ramping up his recruiting efforts of late. Tauanuu received an offer after his visit on Saturday, while four-star Isaiah Garcia and three-star Paki Finau got theirs on January 23.
The weekend culminated in a signing by Glamor that gave UCLA a base to build on when it came to future offensive line recruiting.
