Sierra Commons dives into artificial intelligence at February tech meetup on February 16 – YubaNet

Nevada City, CA – February 1, 2023 – Get ready to learn how artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting jobs in Nevada County and the local community. Sierra Commons invites the public to engage and participate in stimulating conversations about AI during their Tech Meetup on February 16.

“Even people who don’t consider themselves tech-savvy are now accessing powerful AI tools,” said Robert Trent, executive director of Sierra Commons. “Marketers, lawyers, administrators and educators use easy-to-use websites to save time and increase productivity. The technology is a game changer.”

Leo Zlimen, co-founder and CEO of Ladris, a Nevada County startup, will share how his company is using AI to help government organizations and businesses prepare for disaster scenarios and evacuation events. Leo will also lead a discussion on the potential future impact of AI on the workplace in relation to jobs and automation.

Ethan Vickers, an intern at Sierra Commons, will open the event with a brief overview of widely used AI tools, including ChatGPT and DALL E 2.

“More and more entrepreneurs at the Sierra Commons coworking space are finding ways to integrate AI into their workflow. I look forward to sharing some of the best AI sites we’ve found and doing some quick demonstrations,” said Vickers. “Those who have never seen how it works will be completely confused,” Ethan added.

The program includes a good mix of informative presentations and participant talks – with plenty of time to network and learn from others.

The event will take place at Headquarters, Nevada City’s newest local venue. Owned and managed by Richard Thomas, a recent graduate of the Sierra Commons Business Ignitor, the cozy Victorian-era space provides a unique setting for activities ranging from table tennis to string quartets.
