LEWISTOWN – A woman from Harrisburg is your new Miss Central Pennsylvania.
Miranda Moore, who earned her place in the statewide Miss Pennsylvania pageant, was crowned Saturday during the 2023 Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Competition at Mifflin County Middle School in Lewistown.
“It was a wonderful feeling to welcome four more young ladies into the Miss Central Pennsylvania family,” said Lisa Metzger, director of the Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Contest. “Especially when we had so many former titleholders who volunteered from judging to backstage support to helping with the production of the show.”
Moore was one of nine candidates from the region hoping to wear the crown. She played the clarinet during the talent portion of the competition and gave a social impact pitch on: “Action in fashion.”
She was also recognized as a Top Talent and Top Interview for her efforts.
Two other winners were crowned when Shannon Cattie of Lafayette Hill was named Miss Greater Juniata Valley and Jaelyn Monroe of Philadelphia was named Miss Mid-State.
Cattie showed off her singing and talked about it during the talent show “PCOS Princess: Empowering Women to Overcome Their Diagnosis” during their social impact pitch.
Monroe read and spoke about poetry as her talent “Empowerment of today’s youth.”
in the “Teenager” Madelyn Sheffel of Grove City won the Miss Mid-State Outstanding Teen competition. During the talent show, Sheffel performed a tap dancing routine. She also won the Top Teen Interview.
Alexandra Pompa from Swickley, who performed a lyrical dance routine, received the Top Teen Talent award. Emilee Amelia Koch from Wernersville won the Spirit Award.
“It was wonderful to see how well the contestants got along backstage and really looked forward to each other’s performances during the coronation.” Butcher added.
The contests are official preliminary rounds for the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss America pageants, as well as the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageants.
That means Moore, Cattie and Monroe will be promoted to the Miss Pennsylvania pageants along with Sheffel.
