BRIAN: FOR A PLANNER, TRAFFIC FLOW IS NOT THE TOP PRIORITY WHEN DESIGNING A ROAD. >> THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IS ACTUALLY SAFETY. BRIAN: WHILE WE ALL WANT TO GET TO WORK OR HOME QUICKLY, THE PLANNERS WANT US TO GET THERE SAFELY. >> Many traffic jams are due to an incident occurring on the road. >> INTERSTATE 83 IS NOW CLOSED. BRIAN: WE TALK ABOUT DELAYS A LOT SO SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS ARE UNDERWAY NOW. >> THIS IS A PROJECT THAT WILL RUN FROM APPROXIMATELY 2020 TO 2030. WE PROGRAM SPECIAL PROJECTS IN A FOUR-YEAR STEP BUT WE PLAN 20 YEARS AHEAD. BRIA ACCORDING TO THE PENNDOT INFORMATION WE RECEIVED, TRAFFIC THROUGH THE STATE HAS INCREASED BY LESS THAN 1% SINCE 2010.

PennDOT has lifted speed limit reductions on a portion of I-81 in southern Pennsylvania. Video above: The busiest roads and intersections in the Susquehanna Valley. Due to winter weather, speed limits on Interstate 81 have been reduced to 45 mph between Exit 90: PA 72 – Lebanon to Exit 145: PA 93/West Hazleton. Commercial vehicles were restricted to the right lane only. These restrictions have also been lifted and the journey can continue as usual. Traffic Resources REAL-TIME DATA: Interactive Map by WGAL. Due to winter weather, restrictions on Interstate 81 between Exit 90: PA 72 – Lebanon and Exit 145: PA 93/West Hazleton have been reduced to 45 mph. Commercial vehicles were only allowed to drive in the right lane.
These restrictions have also been lifted and the journey can continue as usual.
